As one of Netflix’s favourite series, Stranger Things, heads towards its highly anticipated finale, two of its biggest stars, Noah Schnapp and Millie Bobby Brown, have opened up about a friendship that has deepened over the years and far beyond the screen.
Schnapp, who plays Will Byers, recently spoke in interviews about the bond he has shared with Brown ever since they met on the Stranger Things set in 2015. He revealed that their connection was instantly “comfortable” and “natural” and something that has grown stronger over the years.
Despite their characters rarely sharing scenes in the series, Schnapp said he cherishes the scene they perform together. In fact, he admitted it’s “so annoying” that they don’t have more on-screen time, describing the rare occasions they act together as some of his favourite days ever.
“I was looking forward to that [scene] all year,” said Schnapp, referring to a moment in Season 5 where Eleven comes to Will’s rescue, a rare moment when the two share significant screen time. He added that working with Brown is “so fun”, “comfortable” and “easy”, thanks to their long-standing friendship.
Friendship Beyond the Screen
Their personal connection goes well beyond the professional atmosphere. Over the years, Schnapp and Brown have supported each other through major life moments. Most recently, Schnapp revealed that he is the godfather to Brown’s daughter, whom she and husband Jake Bongiovi adopted earlier this year, a promise the friends made when they were children.
“It’s such an honour,” Schnapp shared, reflecting on how meaningful the role is to him. The pair’s bond, formed over childhood years spent working together, has evolved into a lifelong friendship that both actors clearly treasure.
At the Stranger Things Season 5 premiere, Schnapp didn’t hesitate to call Brown his “best friend for life”, underscoring the deep personal connection that has endured as the series draws to a close.
A Family-Like Cast Dynamic
Schnapp also spoke about the wider Stranger Things cast, noting how the long shoot has developed a familial atmosphere among the actors. With the show running for nearly a decade, the cast have shared formative years.
This blend of professional respect, personal affection, and shared history, both on and off camera, has made Schnapp and Brown’s friendship one of the most heartwarming stories to come out of the Stranger Things phenomenon.
As fans count down to the series finale, streamers are reminded that, for these actors, the real-life bonds formed in Hawkins go far beyond the Upside Down.
