South OTT Releases This Week: Kalamkaval & More

OTT has taken over theatre release and this week’s OTT across major platforms like SonyLIV, ZEE5, JioHotstar, and more brings a mix of crime thrillers, action, comedy, and devotional dramas from Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil and Kannada cinema keeping viewers varied tastes in different genres.

Kalamkaval, a Malayalam Crime Thriller with a cat-and-mouse investigation, is now Streaming on SonyLIV. The Thriller stars Mammootty and Vinayakan in key roles. The show was set to be released on January 16 but was released a day before on January 15. Viewers can watch the show on SonyLIV in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi dubbed as well.

The show revolves around SI Jayakrishnan played by Vinayakan, as he investigates a series of missing women just to uncover a chilling truth that led to serial killer Stanley Das played by Mammootty.

After a successful theatrical release, the fans were excited for its OTT release, now you can watch it on SonyLIV.

Bha Bha Ba, another banger from the southern part of India is a Malayalam Action Comedy, now streaming on ZEE5. The show is an action comedy with a social message and satire.

The story starts with a kidnapping scene of a newly elected Chief Minister which leads to chaos and an unexpected emotional scene behind the whole act. The film offers a lighter, relaxing and entertaining option this week with a blend of comedy and social commentary. You can watch it on ZEE5 from January 16.

Dhandoraa, another Telugu Social Satire is coming soon on OTT, the show is a social satire that is directed by Murali Kanth D and starring actor Sivaji in the main role. After its theatre release on December 25, 2025 the show is set to release for a digital release through special streaming details that are being confirmed.

The film has been appreciated for its engaging narrative and meaningful take on contemporary social issues.

In addition to the films mentioned above, viewers can also find another hit to watch this week. Anantha, a Telugu devotional drama inspired by the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba is now streaming on JioHotstar.

Gurram Paapi Reddy, a crime comedy about a group’s misadventures after financial loss is now on ZEE5; and

Mahasenha, a Tamil jungle action-thriller with mythical elements, is set to release on OTT after its theatrical run.

Across platforms, the January 12 to January 18 window features multiple new South Indian shows of different genres from crime and thriller genres to social satires and devotional films that are good for an entertaining week.
