With everything shifting digitally, Bollywood changed its technique to grab audiences through OTT releases. Once again, Bollywood brought us a gritty crime thriller starring Bhumi Pednekar who is known for her grounded and strong screen performances.
This time Bollywood has taken different approach of “Why done it?” making it more disturbing and sinister. The show is in grey area with morally dark characters, intense performance and restrained storytelling. Bhumi started her career as an assistant casting director before she played the lead role Sandhya in Dum Laga Ke Haisha in 2015. That one role made her a promising actress, which led to her back to back strong screen performances in films like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Saand Ki Aankh, Bala, Badhaai Do and Bhakshak. After 2020 her career entered a difficult phase marked by constant box office failures, fans started trolling her despite critical appreciations.
While Badhaai Do and Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare earned praise for their themes and performance, other projects such as Durgamati, Raksha Bandhan, Thank You for Coming, and The Lady Killer failed to impress fans. Daldal: Plot and Cast
Daldal is a crime thriller series set in a morally grey world that focuses on understanding why crimes are committed and not merely solving them. According to the makers, the show avoids traditional thrillers and explores psychological, emotional and social triggers behind the act. The name itself explains how the characters sink deeper into guilt, trauma, and conflict as the story unfolds.
Bhumi is playing the role of a senior police officer that happens to investigate a brutal crime that unfolds uncomfortable truths as investigation progresses.
Alongside Bhumi, Aditya Rawal plays the role that adds more complexity to the narrative. Samara Tijori adds emotional aspects to the story where her presence brings out more in the show.

Just like any movie or series Dadal debuted with mixed opinions. People praised strong performances by Bhumi, the series’ psychological depth and dark character portrayal. Whereas others criticised its slow pacing and heavy tone that might require patience for a few. Overall, critics agree that show may not be for everyone but it is a must-watch, thought-provoking show that not just talk about crime but also mental and psychological issues that many ignore.
