Controversy: Border 2 Barred from Release in Gulf Nations

Just a day before its global release, Border 2 has reportedly been banned from theatrical release across Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Industry sources suggest that the decision came into effect due to the “anti-Pakistan” content in the film’s narrative, a common hurdle for Indian films with strong India–Pakistan wartime themes in those markets.
Films like Dhurandhar and even Gadar 2, which faced similar limitations in the region.

Despite the overseas ban, filmmakers are reported to be unfazed, relying on strong advance bookings at home country and confidence that domestic box office performance will compensate for any losses in the Gulf market.

Advance Bookings & Fan Excitement

Despite the Gulf ban, Border 2 is generating strong support at home. Advance ticket sales have already crossed the ₹10 crore mark, indicating domestic audience interest ahead of its extended Republic Day weekend release.

Social media reactions to the trailer and BTS photos have been largely positive, with some industry insiders and fellow actors praising the return to patriotic storytelling and Sunny Deol’s commanding screen presence.
