The controversy surrounding music composer and filmmaker Palaash Muchhal over the past few weeks has turned what was once a beautiful love story into a public storm involving allegations of infidelity, assault, and financial fraud. The issue first came into the spotlight after reports emerged that Muchhal’s wedding to Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana had been called off, followed by claims made by a person identifying himself as Mandhana’s childhood friend.
Infidelity Allegation
According to media reports, the wedding between Palaash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana was scheduled to take place in Sangli, Maharashtra. Initially, the cancellation was seen as a result of Mandana’s father’s health issue; however, the narrative changed when allegations began surfacing on social media suggesting that Palaash cheated on Mandhana.

The most sensational allegation came from Vidnyan Mane, who claimed to be a close childhood friend of Smriti Mandhana. Mane alleged that Palaash Muchhal was caught red-handed with another woman during the wedding celebrations. According to his account, the incident occurred on the day of the wedding and led to what he described as a “bhayanak scene”. He also claimed that following the discovery some female cricketers who were close to Mandhana confronted Muchhal in anger and later beat him, a claim that quickly went viral across news portals and social media platforms.
These allegations, although unverified are gaining positive support from the audience who love Mandhana and the female cricket team. Smriti Mandhana, one of India’s most respected and widely admired women cricketers has not shared anything after the wedding was called off. She has neither confirmed nor denied the claims made by her alleged childhood friend, choosing to stay away from the whole online chaos.
Financial Fraud Allegations
Following the personal allegations, a more serious allegation was added to the controversy when Mane accused Palaash Muchhal of financial cheating. He alleged that he had invested approximately forty lakh rupees in one of Muchhal’s proposed film projects, claiming that the composer had promised returns as well as professional involvement in the venture. Although the move never worked out and when he asked for his money back, he was blocked from contacting Muchhal and his family following which he decided to approach the police.
Response from Palaash’s side
Palaash Muchhal has strongly denied all accusations. In public statements shared through social media, he has described the claims as false, baseless, and motivated by a personal grudge. He has maintained that his reputation is being tarnished and has indicated that he is working on these rumours with his legal team.
Muchhal’s lawyer also responded to the cheating allegations, asking for evidence to prove the allegation.
Social media is divided, with some supporting Mandhana while others have demanded clarity and accountability from Muchhal. There is also a growing conversation about the dangers of trial by media, with many pointing out that serious accusations, particularly those involving personal relationships and financial disputes.
As of now, no court has passed judgement on any of the allegations. Until then, the controversy surrounding Palaash Muchhal and the cancelled wedding with Smriti Mandhana continues to unfold, serving as a reminder of how quickly private disputes can transform into national headlines.
