Piracy Revenue Exposed: iBomma Network Earned Crores via Illegal Streams and Betting

Fresh revelations from the Hyderabad Cyber Crime investigation into the iBomma racket have exposed the vast financial scale of the piracy network allegedly operated by Immadi Ravi. According to officials, the operation generated crores of rupees through illegal movie streaming, online betting partnerships and offshore payment channels.

Investigators say the primary revenue model revolved around high-traffic piracy streams. Newly released Telugu films were uploaded within hours of their theatrical release, attracting millions of visits to iBomma and its mirror domains. This traffic was then monetised through aggressive advertising, pop-up networks and backend deals with betting websites. Early estimates suggest Ravi’s network earned over ₹12 crore from piracy-linked activities alone.

Authorities also uncovered that the group used multiple international servers and Cloudflare-protected domains to hide their locations. Nearly 17 mirror websites were directly linked to the ring, helping them bypass takedown attempts for years. Digital forensic teams believe the revenue trail may extend to cryptocurrency wallets and foreign bank accounts.

Film trade analysts say the financial damage caused by the iBomma ecosystem stretches far beyond these numbers. Telugu producers and distributors report losses running into hundreds of crores, especially for mid-budget films that rely heavily on opening weekend collections.

With Ravi’s arrest shedding light on the money flow, officials are now preparing to freeze assets, trace financial beneficiaries and dismantle the wider syndicate. The expose marks a turning point in India’s fight against digital piracy, highlighting how organised and profitable such networks have become.
