rabhas’ latest release, The Raja Saab has hit theatres nationwide during the Sankranti festival, marking the actor’s first major release of the year. The movie, although it attracted a massive audience on its opening day, the larger audience came out with mixed and critical reactions. The movie failed to impress the majority of the audience on its first day.

The star-loaded movie is one of the major releases, but the fan reaction seems different from what was expected.

Opening Day Box Office Performance

The movie hit the theatre and delivered a healthy opening at the box office despite the mixed reaction, knowing Prabhas’s fan following. On Day 1 the movie collected around ₹54.15 crore worldwide, making it one of the strongest openings so far this year. The film also overtook the long-running massive hit Dhurandhar at the domestic box office on its opening day.

Prabhas became a huge name after his most popular two-part Bahubali broke the box office record with his visual and banger storytelling.

Prabhas’ pan-india cinema record remains the same, especially in Telugu-speaking areas, where the movie saw the highest growth and packed theatres on the first day compared to the Hindi and Tamil belts.

Audience & Fan Mixed Reaction

On social media many viewers have predicted the record-breaking run of the movie following Prabhas’ craze in the North after Bahubali. Some viewers praised the movie’s music, twist, and climax, whereas others praised Prabhas’s screen presence and dialogue delivery. As per reports, a fan brought crocodiles to screenings in order to recreate an iconic scene from the movie.

But the positive reaction didn’t stop the negative reviews. While some praised the movie, a larger section of the audience and critics shared disappointment with its narrative, humour, and visual execution. Following the backlash, the makers landed in a controversy. As per a few, the allegation surfaced claiming the makers offered money to remove negative reviews, which caused buzz online, although the claim remains unverified and the makers didn’t release any official notification regarding the issue.

Broader Impact & Future Plans

Despite the movie getting mixed reactions from the audience and critics, The Raja Saab shows strong commercial potential, especially in Telugu belt. The film’s performance might improve over the weekend, but before that the makers already confirmed the sequel, titled The Raja Saab Circus 1935, hinting at growing the movie’s franchise.

The Raja Saab opened with impressive box office numbers on its first day, following Prabhas’ star power. However, the film received mixed reviews and online controversy that might affect its future performance. Despite all this, good news for Prabhas’s Japan fan following is that the movie is about to be released in Japan soon after its dubbing in the Japanese language.
