Scott Adams, The Creator of Dilbert, Dies at 68

Scott Adams, the American cartoonist known for his iconic comic strip Dilbert, passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 68. As per reports, he had been suffering from prostate cancer (Stage 4) and was receiving hospice care at his home in California.

Who is Scott Adams

Scott Raymond Adams was born on June 8, 1957, and was an American author and cartoonist. He was the creator of the very famous Dilbert comic strip. But before becoming a full-time cartoonist, he worked in corporate and made his initial debut in 1995.

He created Dilbert in 1989 which gained popularity in the United States and began to reach an international audience. Dilbert was inspired by his own experience in corporate jobs and that was the same reason the work gained massive attention due to its office culture, workplace drama, and bureaucracy. The strip later was adapted into an animated television series.

His writings were mostly satirical and focused on social and psychological themes that also included the lives of white-collar workers in modern era. Some of his well-known books are Pandeistic spiritual novel God’s Debris and others on political topics like Loserthink.

Controversies and Later Years

In his later years, Adams became a controversial public figure due to his political views and statements made on social media and livestreams. In February 2023, several newspapers dropped Dilbert because of his racist comments on his Real Coffee Youtube Channel. Despite his illness, he relaunched a webcomic on his website and continued to be active until his death.

Scott left behind a legacy which was both controversial for his views and revolutionary for workplace humour through Dilbert.
