Sunidhi Chauhan is one of India’s most popular and versatile playback singers, known for her powerful vocals and rockstar vibes. Sunidhi was born on August 14, 1983, in New Delhi, where she began her singing journey and gained early recognition after winning the television singing competition Meri Awaaz Suno in the mid-1990s.

Her Debut as a playback Singer

Sunidhi Chauhan made her playback debut as a child artist and rose to nationwide fame with the song “Ruki Ruki Si Zindagi” from the film Mast (1999), composed by A.R. Rahman. The song earned her first Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer, making her one of the youngest recipients of the honour. Known for her powerful voice, wide vocal range, and high-energy performances, Sunidhi has sung across multiple genres, including romantic, classical, pop, dance, rock, and item numbers. Some of her most popular songs include “Sheila Ki Jawani”, “Beedi”, “Crazy Kiya Re”, “Dhoom Machale”, “Aaja Nachle”, and “Kamli”.

Over the years, she has collaborated with leading music composers such as A.R. Rahman, Vishal–Shekhar, Pritam, Shankar–Ehsaan–Loy, and Salim–Sulaiman. In addition to Hindi cinema, she has recorded songs in several Indian languages, including Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali, and Punjabi.

Sunidhi Chauhan has also been a familiar face on television as a judge and mentor on multiple singing reality shows, where she has played a key role in nurturing young musical talent.
