Sharad’s major recognition came in 2008, when he was cast as Abdul, the friendly shopkeeper in the beloved sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah on SAB TV. In the show, Abdul’s soda shop is a regular gathering spot for men of Gokuldham Society. Sharad’s quirky portrayal has made the character a household name across India.
Despite his real-life background, the audience often warmly accepts him as his character “Abdul,” crossing cultural and social lines.

Before TMKOC, Sharad faced a long period, up to seven years without steady acting work, which he has spoken about in interviews as a difficult but formative phase.
Beyond acting, Sharad has diversified into business. Reports note that he owns two restaurants in Mumbai, one in Juhu’s Parle Point and another called Charlie Kebab in Andheri, supplementing his acting income.
Although his family is not under the spotlight but as per reports he is married to Premila and has children named Manav and Kritika. We don’t have much information about the family yet.
