Who is Yash

Naveen Kumar Gowda, better known as Yash, was born on 8 January 1986 in Hassan, Karnataka. Before starting his career he adopted a stage name as advised by astrologers for a long-lasting career and that led to his name, Yash, a shortened version of Yashwanth.

Yash made his name in the Kannada film industry and is known as the highest-paid actor in the cinema industry. But his journey was not so easy. Before debuting with his 2007 film Jambada Hudugi, he appeared in several television series. Yash received his first Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his 2008 drama Moggina Manasu and that role became a breakthrough for his career.

K.G.F: A Life-Changing Role

Yash was already an established actor, but after K.G.F. in 2018 he established himself as a superstar. K.G.F is a two-part movie directed by Prashanth Neel. K.G.F: Chapter 1 became the highest-grossing Kannada film during its time in theatres. Yash’s look, to be precise, his long beard, became a fashion statement among youth. K.G.F. became a pan-indian film earning nationwide popularity. This popularity led to the sequel K.G.F: Chapter 2, alongside Sanjay Dutt and Raveena Tandon, the fourth highest-grossing Indian film, with ₹10 billion earned. Yash won the hearts of everyone in the audience and critics alike and earned the name “Rocky Bhai”.

Yash’s Love Life

Yash met his wife, Radhika Pandit, on the set of Nanda Gokula in 2007; what started as a friendship led to their beautiful love story and their wedding on 9 December 2016. The couple got engaged in Goa and got married in Bangalore, which gathered all high-profile celebrities. The couple welcomed their daughter, Arya, in 2018 and their son, Yatharv, in 2019. Yash is known for keeping his personal life private, with very little information about them on the radar.

Philanthropic Work

The couple together founded YashoMarga Foundation, a non-profit organisation, in 2017. They took the first project to help the Koppal districts that were affected by the water crisis; they invested ₹40 million to provide pure drinking water to 40 villages in the region.  He also campaigned for the Janta Dal and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election. He stated in one of his interviews that even though he is not into politics, if the situation arose, he would step in. Yash and his fans worked for the environment whenever possible; he also donated ₹5000 each to 3000 workers in the film industry to ease their financial burden after the pandemic.

Today, Yash is known for not just his career in major films but also for his down-to-earth personality. He got the name “Wonder Boy” due to his quiet personality and mannerisms. From his humble beginning to his stardom, the journey wasn’t easy but impactful.
