The Golden Globe Nominees Pre-Night, an official Golden Week event hosted by The Hollywood Reporter and Spotify at the Lot at Formosa in West Hollywood, was celebrated on January 8. The pre-celebration brought many stars under the roof, and one of them was Canadian actress Nina Dobrev, who turned heads on the red carpet in the beautiful Hervé Léger Fall/Winter 1997 couture collection.
Who Is Nina Dobrev?
Nina Dobrev, born as Nikolina Kamenova Dobreva, was born on January 9, 1989 in Sofia, Bulgaria. She came into the limelight after her roles on television and several high-end film and fashion deals. Nina moved to Toronto, Canada, when she was just a child, where she followed her passion for the arts and performance, including dancing and theatre. She completed her studies at Wexford Collegiate School for the Arts and then attended Ryerson University to pursue her passion for acting.
Breakthrough & Acting Career
Nina started her acting career with small roles before landing her first major role in Degrassi: The Next Generation (2006–2009) as Mia Jones. She worked in other films before getting international recognition through The CW’s supernatural drama The Vampire Diaries, where she portrayed Elena Gilbert and her doppelgängers, Katherine Pierce and others, from 2009 to 2015.
Her role in this franchise made her a superstar and fans’ favourite. Nina gave us some iconic films across different genres, including The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Final Girls, and the successful XXX: Return of Xander Cage which collected over $300 million worldwide.
Nina’s Personal Life
Nina’s family includes her father, Kamen Dobrev, who is a computer specialist; her mother, Michaela Dobreva who is an artist and an older brother. Nina was 10 when she moved to Bulgaria where she started ballet and jazz classes and competed in rhythmic gymnastics. After completing her College, she attended Ryerson University but dropped out to pursue her career in acting.
Nina started her career as a normal girl, but fame chose her slowly but strongly. She was dating Olympic Shaun White until they called off their engagement in early 2025 and since then she has been single.
Today, Nina achieved everything a young girl desires, from a normal girl to an actress and fashion icon, nina and her outfits are every teenage girl’s wardrobe dream.
